Jaipur was founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II who ruled from 1699-1744 and initially his capital was Amber (city), which lies at a distance of 11 km from Jaipur. However, Jaipur has joined the parade of metropolitan cities; still there are some traditions and customs in the city, which you will find quite surprising.

Sightseeing:
City Palace
City Palace located in the heart of the world city. The City Palace is a blend of Mughal and Rajasthani architecture and the royal family still lives in a part of the Palace.
The building now forms the Maharaja Swai Man Singh II Museum and on display here are a wide array of royal costumes, some vary exquisite and precious pashmina (kashmiri) shawls, Benaras silk sarries sauganeri prints and folk embroidery. The art gallery is located in the Diwan I Aam, which literally, mean the hall of public audience. Between the armory museum and the art gallery is the Diwan I Khas meaning the hall of private or selective audience.
 
Jantar Mantar
antar Mantar (Observatory) has the Jaiprakash Yantra, Samrat Yantra, Ram Yantra and the Composite instrument, which comprises of a sundial and a massive hemisphere. The Jantar mantar in Jaipur is the most famous one among the five observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh.
 
Amber Fort Palace
Amber Fort, is one that cannot be easily described. The Amber Fort set in picturesque and rugged hills is a fascinating blend of Mughal Architecture, construct by Raja Mann Singh in 1592 and completed by Swai Jai Singh, the fort is made in red sand stone and white marble.
Amber Fort is the classic and romantic fort palace with a magnificent aura. The interior wall of palace depicts expressive painting scenes with carvings, precious stones and mirror settings.
 
Hawa Mahal
Hawa Mahal - The ornamental facade of this "Palace of Winds" is a prominent landmark in Jaipur. Their five-storey structures of sandstone plastered pink encrusted with fine trelliswork and elaborate balconies. The palace has 953 niches and windows. Built in 1799 by Pratap Singh, the Mahal was a royal grandstand for the palace women.
 
How to Reach Jaipur

The city of Jaipur is easily accessible from the major cities of India, so reaching Jaipur is not difficult at all. Jaipur is well-connected by rail, road and air. Jaipur has a brilliant road network making it easier for people to travel.
